Safeguarding
At Brentfield safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and our priority and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children.
All staff working within our school are expected to share our commitment. Adults employed by the school, and any contractors or volunteers within our school, are expected to report any concerns relating to the safeguarding of our children and young people in accordance with agreed procedures.
The Headteacher is our designated safeguarding lead (DSL), and we also work with other professional organisations to make sure all children are safe in our care.
If any conduct in relation to the safeguarding of children or young people gives cause for concern, the Council’s agreed Child Protection procedures will be followed, alongside implementation of the school’s Disciplinary Procedure.
Our safeguarding policy can be found here
For any matters concerning safeguarding outside school hours or in the school holidays, please email Nicola Harmer (the Headteacher) on: safeguarding@brentfield.brent.sch.uk
Operation Encompass - Supporting Children at Brentfield Primary School
Brentfield Primary School takes part in Operation Encompass. Operation Encompass is a national programme which helps schools support children who may have experienced domestic abuse.
What happens?
If the police attend a domestic incident where a Brentfield pupil is present, the police will inform the school before the next school day. The information is sent securely to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Why this is important:
This helps us to:
- Act quickly
- Support children sensitively and appropriately
Confidentiality:
- Information is private and secure
- Staff are informed on a need-to-know basis only
Our Safeguarding Duty:
Taking part in Operation Encompass is part of our legal duty to keep children safe and promote their welfare.
